To provide you with better and more timely patient care, it is critical that your care team has access to all of your medical information. ConnectingGTA (cGTA) is a regional database of health information that will do just that.
By connecting patient data from 11 hospitals and many other healthcare service providers in the Greater Toronto Area, cGTA allows clinical staff at Markham Stouffville Hospital to quickly and securely access your health information.
This means that you don’t have to recite vital details of your health history to our staff or run around gathering your test results and medical images to bring to your next appointment. All of your care providers are better able to collaborate and coordinate your care as you transition from hospital to community care providers to other specialists.
This system helps reduce redundant testing and expedite advanced testing to determine the best course of treatment faster. Our care providers are able to help patients experiencing cognitive impairments or language barriers better because they have the information they need at their fingertips.
Participation is growing steadily; approximately 40 organizations have recently started to use cGTA, including other Toronto-area hospitals, Community Care Access Centres, and laboratories. And as each organization signs on, the amount of available patient data grows.
